No herb garden would be complete without sage.
Common sage is a hardy perennial plant and will tolerate frost or drought. Like most herbs, it prefers well drained soil in full sun. Sage dies back in winter and reappears in spring.
I propagate with cuttings. Gently break of a side shoot with a heel attached, remove lower leaves and plant deep in a pot until roots are established. You could also try growing sage from seed. Plant out in spring.
Sage has a powerful flavour and 2 or 3 leaves are enough for most hot dishes.
