ACT SR CLUB 53 - Around the Lakes

(Note: If you want to see the pics better, up the percentage on the screen to 125%)...SR

Denis’s white SR500, Stew’s SR500 and Mark’s SRX600 turned up along with a host of other machines for the ACT Classic Clubs ‘Around the Lakes Run’ last Sunday.

For the run a ‘massive number’ of Triumphs and other sundry Brit, German and Italian machines turned out together with a smattering of Japanese bikes as well. Among those was an XBR500 Honda to redress the imbalance caused by the Yams and there was a Kawa 250 2 stroke trail bike and a Suzy Hustler café racer as well. Some interesting machines…

Stew's SR500...with a nicely restored Bonnie in the back..

Mark's machine...low profile BT45 front has transformed the handling...

Denis's white US model SR500E...

Nice Kwaka trailie...

Suzuki Hustler cafe racer...

XBR500 Honda...kept the Honda side going...comstar wheels..

After a hearty breakfast supplied by the club the ride around the Lakes ensued…Allister headed out and took off like a startled rabbit…making the Yam work for its existence…the others rode in a more genteel manner and got there at the same time…hmm, remember the Hare and the Tortoise story Allister…heh, heh…

The ride eventually returned to where they’d started and more food awaited…from the barby trailer once again…hungry people motorcyclists…

My SR was trialling an ‘aftermarket CDI unit’ on this ride as well. The unit is well made and it worked flawlessly.

If you are after one for an E or an F model SR, check out this link to the SR Forum and look for Aero…he’ll set you right. He charges £75 for them.

The Salt Attack Racer continues...mags are now the go...

I am going to shortly sort out a new ride calendar for the SRs…now that the days are getting longer again…keep your eyes out on the Calendar for dates and destinations. If anyone has an idea for a ride let me know…

Hmmm, a pic from a well know Italian Marque's website...placed on there to illustrate 'bad taste in styling'...I can see why!. Good grief who'd make a styling 'faux pas' as bad as this guy...an ally tank and a chrome rack together on the same machine! How 'gauche'!  (You'd never see a Moto Guzzi as badly styled as this that's for sure!)...would you Allister!

Compare it to this 'bastion of styling excellence'! An obvious vast difference here!

...heh, heh...all this criticism on the net from an exponent of a marque that made a flat 500 single with a red external flywheel! Good grief!

‘till next time.
